Hey there! I ordered 8 of these for my classroom. I've just unpacked them and was getting them tuned up and I'm having a hard time keeping them in tune! I'll get it tuned up and a minute later, I've got to tighten the strings. Do the strings settle in and eventually stop stretching out or should I change the strings to a different kind?
Emily G on Apr 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: All brand new ukulele strings, including the Aquila strings installed on this model, will stretch quite a bit and may take a little bit of time to break in. Once they are settled, the strings will hold tuning. Here is a demonstration to help expedite this process sooner: http://www.westmusic.com/author/sam-marchuk-west-music-education-consultant.aspx
How is this different from the Westwood Soprano ukulele?
A shopper on Feb 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Overall? If you had both of them side by side you would notice that the Kala MK-S is slightly bigger. It also produces a bigger sound because it's an Agathis body instead of basswood. Also, you would notice that the bridge on the Westwood is inferior to the Kala because of how it's strung. Both are now strung with Aquila strings which makes a huge difference, but overall the Kala is a slightly better instrument.
How do I reserve this ukulele when it is out of stock?
Lisa A on Jan 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We fill backorders in the order they were received. The best thing to do would be to go ahead and order one, and we'll ship it to you as soon as they are back in stock. We hope to have these by the end of this month, Jan 2018.
Does this come with a tuner?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: When you purchase the ukulele by itself, it does not come with a tuner or padded case. It's just the ukulele by itself. However, we do sell a package that comes with this ukulele, a padded soft case, and a tuner. The item number for that package is 302969, and it sells for $76.99.
